So I think enough time has passed that the fear of 12-21-12 and the misconceptions that came along with that have passed.

While in pursuit of my Bachelor’s Degree in Photography I had to take an English Comp 2 class, as everyone going for a BA knows you have to do, and this particular class was nothing but essays and writing skills.

For one of my assignments I had to write an informative paper that would do two things: the first take a topic and clear up misunderstandings and secondly give actualities of the subject.

Anyone who has been in college knows that any and all papers written must have reliable sources and Wiki anything is not one of those – and is still not a source I will ever use.

Also, anyone who has been in college knows that the best sources are usually not the dot com sources, therefore all the research I did on the so called Mayan Prophecies were reliable sources in which my Instructor had to approve of, such as .org, .edu, .net, .gov and others of this kind of nature.

Me, being a believer most people tend to misunderstand things and we live in a world that promotes fear before education decided to take on a topic that would lead me to other “prophecies” or predictions that coincided with the Mayans.

One of the biggest misconceptions of the “Mayan Prophecies” was the end of the world and the destruction of humanity.

The Mayans never said that was the end of the world nor did the Long Count Calendar they developed, which as anyone well versed in the Mayan culture will know they had two important calendars that have been remarkably accurate, the short calendar which I suppose we would look at as an almanac and the long count that covers more than 5,000 years.

The Long Count Calendar in fact is the one that marks the beginning and end of cycles in the Earth and the Universe around us.

They did not predict, nor has any other ancient culture predicted, that life would cease to exist on Earth or even that humanity would cease to exist.

The accurate nature of the Long Count Calendar and correct interpretation, according to scientists and translators, is in fact that we have entered a new cycle on Earth.

The Mayans are not the only culture to predict this changing of cycles, the ancient Hindu, Hopi and many of the Native Americans, Indians, Egyptians, Chinese, Romans and Greek cultures all have writings or hieroglyphics indicating a great change coming about within the world due to the ending of one cycle and the beginning of another.

According to the Hindu, Native Americans, the Chinese, Buddhists and Egyptians the new cycle that will begin will bring the world together after the long cycle of ramped deterioration of what should be – or simply put after we have been so divided as a people as a whole of humanity.

And if you look at the history of people that would be about right, it has been over 5,000 years of separation.

However, the way the prophecies, if you will, say the new cycle beginning will bring about great changes within the Earth, yes I mean the Earth itself, and humanity will be brought together again and live as we should.

Now some reading this will think the “prophecies” or I talk of judgment day and will again go on the band wagon if it marks the end of times, after all how can all of humanity live as we should without killing each other?

That is a good question, especially since for as long as there has been written history we have been warring with each other.

But that is for as long as written history has been around, and I mean actual history and not the caveman drawings, although that is arguably the first recorded written history.

I speak of the history that involves human activity past hunting, but in retrospect that could arguably be called the last time we were a ‘peaceful people’ only looking to help one another and not for personal gain.

As I write this and recalling everything I learned while researching my topic of the end of days prophecies, and frankly even the way Revelations reads, in none of them did it speak of humanity ending but rather the way we have known life to be is ending and humanity will actually become what it should be, at least for this new cycle.

It is not the first time this cycle has happened upon the Earth, again all who are well versed on this topic from more than just one stand point will also know, all cycles have already been and will always be, whether we are here or not.

Even science is backing up the ideology of cycles upon the Earth and has since they started collecting frozen samples in Antarctica, of which they have dug far deeper than just a few hundred feet to get.

Getting technical and a more solid foundation upon how science is and has been proving the cycles, look at the amount of research that has been done within Geology and what has been found within our rock formations – proof of the many changes the Earth has gone through that has taken thousands of years to complete.

But this time and the biggest difference is we are playing catch up to a system that has been in place far before we ever were.

Therefore, why is it so hard to believe that the Mayan Calendar was only speaking of this new (to us) cycle beginning?

And if you’re worried about humanity’s ability to survive great Earthly changes, all I can say is have we not proven to be both the smartest and dumbest beings in the planet’s history and no matter what comes our way we are able to both adapt, evolve and carry on, so have faith.

Thank you for reading my ramblings … until next time.
