Winnifred Katherine Davison

1924 to 2013

Winnifred Katherine Davison passed away on Jan. 25, 2013, at the age of 88.

She was surrounded by her family in Olympia, Wash., where she lived for the past two years.

She was born in Kansas City, Mo., on July 16, 1924, and was raised in Sidney by her parents, Burnell O. Tracy and Jessie K. (Griffis) Tracy.

Winnie was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, John H. Davison.

After marriage she lived in Dalton from 1951 to 1966 where she taught second grade. The family moved to Lompoc, Calif., in 1966 where she was a reading specialist until retiring in 1986. In 2004, she moved to the state of Washington to be near her family.

Winnie is survived by her son, Ernie and his wife Jeri. She has two grand children, Katy (Ben) Hughes and Quint (Dacia) Davison as well as one great-granddaughter Alexis.

Also surviving are her two sisters LaWanna Hajek, Sidney, and Beverly Sawyer, Warren, Mass.

A memorial service will be Feb. 16, at 2 p.m. at the Centralia First Nazarene Church, Centralia, Wash. Donations in Winnie’s memory can be made to: Our Literacy Council P.O. Box 625 Centralia, WA 98531.
