Sidney grapplers 11th at Lex

LEXINGTON — Sidney High School’s wrestling team finished 11th of 14 teams at Saturday’s John Higgins Invitational in Lexington.

Kearney won the team title with 180.5 points. SHS finished with 46 points.

Raiders earning places were Michael Muggli, with was fourth at 132 pounds, as was Scott Kelsey at 220.

Tanner Wernsman was sixth at 152.

Those winning matches, scoring team points but not placing were Nathaniel Votruba at 138 and heavyweight Tucker Wintholz.

Four junior varsity wrestlers earned places Saturday: Michael Banaszak (sixth, 138), Lukias Higer (second, 145), Ryan Wooley (second, 152) and Brandon Lulf (fifth, 182).

The next action for John Ganser’s Red Raiders grapplers will be Saturday at the Mitchell Invitational.
