Haven and Virginia Smith scholarship announced

The Haven and Virginia Smith Scholarship applications are now available from Kathy Ford, guidance counselor at Creek Valley High School.

This Scholarship is to be awarded to a student using the following guidelines:

a. Applicant must be a graduating senior from one of the Nebraska High Schools selected to be part of the Endowment Scholarship Program.

b. Applicant must have a “C” average to be eligible.

c. Applicant must be able to demonstrate a financial need. Such as: have other members of family in college that places a financial burden on parents/guardians/grandparents; study time vs. part time employment; have limited savings; and, needed in school clubs and other activities.

d. Applicant need not enroll in a program leading to a Bachelor’s Degree, but rather may wish to pursue a course leading to a Vocational Technical Certificate or an Associate Degree at one of the Community Colleges.

e. Applicant must not use this scholarship to supplement another of $2,500 or greater. Other scholarships such as Regents, Board of Trustees, Presidents, etc., would make applicant ineligible for this scholarship. If you are placed in this situation, please visit your counselor.

Applications are due March 1, 2013. The Haven and Virginia Smith Scholarship is awarded without regard to sex, race, religion, or ethnic origin. Applications can be obtained from Kathy Ford, Guidance Counselor at Creek Valley High School.
