Mila Jean Griffiths, 85, of Sidney passed away Tuesday morning, Jan. 15, 2013, at Memorial Health Center, Extended Care in Sidney.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 18, 2013, in the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Tom Hyde officiating. Services will conclude at the church with cremation to follow. Inurnment will be in the Greenwood Cemetery in the spring.

Visitation is set for Thursday, Jan. 17, 2013, from 1 to 7 p.m. at Holechek Funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The First United Methodist Church or Activities Department at Memorial Health Center Extended Care.

Jean Griffiths was born May 11,1927, in Hendley, Neb., to Martha Alice Smith Copeland Kaylor and Milo Copland. She graduated from Sidney High School and was united in marriage to Walter (Si) Griffiths on May 31, 1945, at the Sioux Army Depot. To this union three children were born. They continued to live in Sidney until 1969 when they moved to Scottsbluff where she worked at Merrick’s Shoe Store. In 1977 they moved to Bridgeport where she was employed at Jack and Jill Grocery Store. Upon retirement they moved back to Sidney where she continued to work at Merrick’s Shoe Store.

Jean enjoyed spending time with friends and family and the activities at Sloans Estates and Memorial Health Extended Care. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her greatest joy.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Cheyenne County Extension Club.

Survivors include son, Walt Griffiths and his wife Lana of Bellevue; two daughters, Janice Hutson and husband John of Mansfield, Mo., and Marsha Jones and Husband Frank Jones II of Greeley, Colo.; six grandchildren, Leigh Zavala and husband Chad of Bellvue, Josh Griffiths of Omaha, Cheree Jubin and husband Tom of Jacksonville, Fla., Tracy Hutson and wife Jean of Ipswich, S.D., Frank Jones III and wife Dana of Greeley, Tony Jones and wife Tiffany of Sidney; 12 great-grandchildren, Cade Zavala, Tessa Zavala, Jacob Jubin, Melissa Jubin, Dawson Jubin, Jailey Hutson, Jalyssa Hutson, Katie Jones, Kyle Jones, Austin Jones, Kelsey Jones, and Logan Jones; one sister, Kathleen Connell from Hot Spring, S.D.; and one brother-in-law, Ralph Griffiths of Redington, Neb.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one sister; a brother, Max; two brothers-in-law; one sister-in-law; and an infant grandson.
