Creek Valley, seeded third, and fifth-seeded Potter-Dix advanced to the semifinals of the Minuteman Activities Conference boys basketball tournament with first-round wins Tuesday evening.
Creek Valley held off No. 6 Banner County 38-30, and Potter-Dix needed overtime to clip No. 5 Garden County, 64-53.

At Chappell, Sam Behrends scored 18 points and grabbed nine rebounds, while Luke Cavalli added 12 points as the Storm (5-6) earned the right to meet Minatare (a 67-38 winner against South Platte Tuesday) at 8 p.m. Thursday at Sidney Middle School.
“Our defense played better,” Storm coach Roger Behrends said. “The offense struggled at times, with spacing and timing, and we need to ready Thursday.”
CV trailed 18-16 at the half, but outscored the Wildcats 14-5 in the third period to take over.
S. Behrends also had six steals, Jordan Garcia three.

OSHKOSH — P-D’s Bryant Knigge lead all scorers with 30 points, including four 3-pointers and going a perfect 4 for 4 from the free-throw line. Luke Johnson added 17 points, with all those coming in the second half and Brady Knigge 11.
The Coyotes (3-6) rallied from a 27-24 halftime deficit to tie the game after three quarters. The score was knotted at 50-all at the end of the regulation, and P-D went on a 14-3 spree in the extra session to win the game.
Anselmo Cano scored 16 points to lead Garden, Layne McCarthy adding 11.
P-D will meet Cheyenne County rival Leyton in a Thursday 4:45 p.m. semifinal at Sidney Middle School.

Peetz sweeps past
Briggsdale twice
PEETZ, Colo. — Host Peetz, Colo. rang up boys and girls basketball victories Tuesday evening against visiting Briggsdale in a pair of makeup games from Friday evening.
Bill Fiscus’ Bulldogs got into a run-and-gun affair with the Falcons, emerging an 84-79 winner. Trailing 35-34 at halftime, Peetz outscored Briggsdale 26-16 in the third quarter to take the lead, then had to fend off a 29-point fourth period by the Falcons.
Peetz’s Tom Karnik led all scorers with 25 points. Josh Fiscus added 16, Troy Clevenger 13 and Austin Crane 12. Casey Barrett just missed double figures with nine points for the Bulldogs (4-5).
Tyler Axelson scored 22 points to lead Briggsdale.
In the girls’ contest, Tera Segelke’s Lady Bulldogs (5-4) surged in the fourth period to post a 47-43 victory. Trailing 34-31 at the third stop, Peetz finished with a 16-9 advantage in the final eight minutes.
Morgan Burns and Beth Berhardt both scored a dozen points to lead Peetz, Melissa Schumacher adding 11 and Mikenna Curlee eight.
Both Peetz squads play Friday night at Fleming, Colo.
