Ione Lenora Cucarola, 92, of Sterling, Colo. went to be with the Lord on Jan. 13, 2013 in Cheyenne, Wyo.
Ione was born in Otis, Colo., on March 22, 1920, to B.J. and Edna (Hawkins) Slack. She had four younger brothers.
Ione and graduated school in Potter.
In 1937, she married Kenneth Wickstrom and moved to the family farm north of Potter. Later they moved to Sidney where they owned and operated the Silver Dollar for 18 years. Two children were born of this union, Brenda and Terry.
In 1971, after Ione and Kenneth were divorced, Ione moved to Denver. She married Eugene Louis Cucarola in 1973. After their marriage, they moved to Sterling, where they shared their life with his five children, Don, Bonnie, Dick, Patricia, and Tony.
Ione was a member of the Christ United Methodist Church. She was an avid bridge player, and loved to travel. She also enjoyed flowers and working in her yard. She loved spending time with her family.
She is survived by her daughter, Brenda (Wickstom) Sculz of Cheyenne; her son, Terry (Mary Jo) Wickstom of Highlands Ranch, Colo.; her stepchildren, Don Cucarola of Lake Havasu, Arizona, Dick (Aimee) Cucarola of Sterling, Bonnie (Ron) Dones of Brush, Colo., Tony (Anita) Cucarola of Sterling; a brother, Delbert Slack of Washington; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Eugene Cucarola; her brothers, Sam, Bob, and Hod Slack; a stepdaughter, Patricia (Cucarola) Becker; a son-in-law, Gerald W. Schulz; and a granddaughter, Shannon (Schulz) Blackwell.
Services are pending.
Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
