Alexis was born May 4, 1994, in Scottsbluff to Barry and Tammy (Egging) Wheeler. She attended Banner County High School and graduated from Scottsbluff High School with the class of 2012. She was active in volleyball and basketball. She was a dual credit student at Scottsbluff High and Western Nebraska Community College, enabling her to complete her Certified Nursing Assistant courses prior to graduating high school. She was employed by The Residency as a CNA during the summer as well as the first semester at WNCC. She was also employed by the Steel Grill. She was presently enrolled in prerequisite courses in order to enter the nursing program at UNMC. She aspired to become a trauma and flight nurse. She was a member of St. Agnes Church and was active in the youth programs.
Alexis was outgoing and found it easy to make friends. She was devoted to her friends and valued the strong relationships she formed with them. By far, the most important relationship was with her younger brother Gavin. They fought as siblings do, only to hug and makeup minutes later. Her desire to be the best caregiver never showed more than in her relationship with Gavin. She shared much of her time with Gavin and was never reluctant to, “Take Him Along; Sissy was the Best!” She will be sadly missed by her many friends and family members.
Alexis is survived by her parents, Barry and Tammy Wheeler; brother and best friend, Gavin; grandparents, Walter and Donna Egging, Roger and Vicki Wheeler; great-grandmother, Mary Egging; uncle, Brandon (Sally) Wheeler; and numerous great uncles and aunts, cousins and precious friends.
She will be joining in heaven her uncle, Greg Egging; maternal great-grandfather, Theodore Egging; paternal great-grandparents, Fred and Linda Dietz, Victor and Lydia Green and Aunt Patricia Egging Kaplan.
