Water line insurance notices not from the City

Sidney City Manager Gary Person would like to draw to the attenion of Sidney residents an envelope that a lot of residential customers received in the mail last week.

“The envelope said it’s a notification for all Sidney water customers and gives you every impression that it comes from the City of Sidney, but it does not,” Person said.

Person said that instead he believes the notices were sent out by a company trying to sell customers insurance on their residential line.

If looked at closely, the receiver of the envelope can read a disclaimer on the back that reads, “Offered by American Water...
