Preliminary findings from a Sunday autopsy indicate that the Saturday-evening shooting death of a Sidney man was an accident.
Cheyenne County Attorney Paul Schaub, in a press release issued late Monday night, said that 28-year-old Donald L. Vizina, 28, died at a friend’s house at 1836 3rd Street in Sidney, after a shot was fired in a bedroom.
The friend, who located Vizina in the bedroom with the firearm, apparently called 911 after a shot was fired. Cheyenne County Sheriff’s Office and Sidney Police Department responded to the call at around 6:20 p.m. Saturday.
Schaub said autopsy findings were consistent with accidental shooting deaths, and that the cause of death was a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head
Schaub said Cheyenne County Sheriff John D. Jenson’s Office is still receiving information and its investigation is continuing.
