Peetz takes a pair from Creek Valley in prep basketball

PEETZ, Colo. — Visiting Creek Valley fell behind in the first quarters of both the girls’ and boys’ contests Tuesday evening, and were swept by the Peetz Bulldogs.

In the girls’ game, four Lady Bulldogs scored in double figures as Peetz won 62-42. Beth Berhardt (18 points), Melissa Schumacher (17), Morgan Burns (14) and Taylor Harless (11) all finished in twin digitss for the winners (3-4).

Peetz led 19-12 after a quarter and maintained that margin at the half, before pulling away in the second half.

Summer Mueller led Creek (3-6) with 12 points, and was the lone Lady Storm player in double figures. Hannah Schievelbein hauled in 11 rebounds for CV.

Berhardt gabbed eight rebounds for Peetz, Burns handed out a half-dozen assists and Schumacher provided five steals and three assists.

Josh Fiscus was white-hot for the Peetz boys, pouring in 34 points as the Bulldogs zipped past Creek, 77-48.

Fiscus knocked down 12 field goals — seven of them being 3-pointers — as Bill Fiscus’ club improved to 3-4. Roger Behrends’ team — minus injured point guard Lane Godfrey — fell to 4-5 with the defeat.

Peetz outscored Creek 36-18 in the middle quarters to pull away from a six-point lead at the first break.

Troy Clevenger and Austin Crane both scored 10 points apiece for Peetz. Jeff Koester pulled down 15 rebounds, Clevenger 10.

Sam Behrends paced the Storm with 21 points, Luke Cavalli adding nine.

Peetz will entertain Briggsdale, Colo. Friday evening, while Creek Valley hosts Paxton on Saturday.
