Robert R. “Bob” Andersen, 94 of Sidney, passed away at Golden Living Center, Thursday morning, Dec. 6, 2012.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2012 in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Sidney, with Pastor Bradley Heinecke officiating.

Military Honors will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made in Bob’s name to the donor’s choice.

A life-long resident of the Sidney Draw, Robert Raymond Andersen, the son of Andrew Marcus and Hazel Ferne (Andrew) Andersen, was born on Dec. 2, 1918, at Sidney. He attended Sidney Schools until being required to help on the family farm, on which he lived and raised his family until the last two and a half years of his life. Bob enlisted in the U.S. Army during World War II and served in the Aleutian Islands until Sept. 22, 1945, at which time he returned to the family farm. On June 12, 1946, he was united in marriage to Adelia E. Dormann in Chappell. The marriage was blessed with four children, James D., Nicola S., Brian R. and Patricia F.

Bob provided for his family by farming, custom combining and working for his cousin in the auto repair business during the winter months, delivering propane and as a sales person for Amy Roller Distributing. His passion was his family and farming. In their past-time, he and his wife loved traveling, fishing and going on cruises. Until the last two and a half years, his life was on the farm.

He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, served on the board of the Sidney Cooperative Elevator, was a member of the Lorenzo School Board and active in other civic activities.

Survivors include four children, James D. Andersen of Sidney, Nicola S. Margheim of Lincoln, Brian R. Andersen and wife Patricia A. of Ennis, Texas, and Patricia F. Pavel and husband Gary J. of Lincoln; one sister, Betty of San Diego; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and numerous extended family members and friends.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife Adelia “Dala” on April 3, 2003; younger brother, Glen; an older brother, Roy; three sisters, Delphine, Vera and Hazel; and a grandson, Todd.

Bob was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend to all who knew him.
