Minnie I. Sanks, 90, of Sidney, passed away Thursday evening, Dec. 6, 2012, at Sidney Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. today in the First Christian Church in Sidney, with Mark Zalesky officiating.

Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.

Gehrig-Stitt Chapel & Cremation Service, LLC is in charge of Minnie’s care and funeral arrangements.

Minnie Isabelle Sanks, the daughter of Julius and Martha (Case) Lorenz, was born on July 6, 1922, at Atkinson. She attended schools in the Gordon, and the Gurley area. On July 29, 1939, Minnie was united in marriage to Floyd Joseph Sanks at Dalton. She continued to live in the Sidney area the remainder of her life. Minnie worked at the Jack & Jill store and received honors for her hard work including the Nash Finch Checker of the Year Award.

Minnie was a longtime member of the First Christian Church, the American Legion Auxiliary and was involved in many activities in her younger years.

Survivors include her children, Floyd Sanks and wife Barbara of Omaha, Gloria Lipinski and husband Marion of North Platte, and Sandi Namuth of Lincoln; one brother, Ken Lorenz and wife Pearl of Florida; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and numerous extended family members and friends.

Minnie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Floyd; one brother, Vern Lorenz; one sister, Gladys Boyer; and several extended family members.
