County commissioners convene Monday

SIDNEY – The Cheyenne County Board of Commissioners will meet Monday, Nov. 5, to discuss several issues, including a non-smoking policy in the Cheyenne County Courthouse, and the addition of more real estate space for the Department of Health and Human Services and Probation department for the county.

A decision regarding the development of a mining operation west of Sidney, owned by Craig Harrison, was taken off the agenda Friday morning.

“Please remove my name from the agenda,” reported Harrison, explained to the County Clerk, with no further explanation.

The meeting, which will convene at 8 a.m. on Monday at the Cheyenne County Commissioners’ Meeting Room, will begin with a movement to remove smoking outside the courthouse according a release from the county.

Diane Scott, Cheyenne County Treasurer, will oversee a pledged securities report and a GIS workshop.

Then, there will be a discussion about the approval of an application from Adams Warehousing, LLC, and a request for approval of a subdivision development known as “Blocks 36 and 37. Sioux Meadows Industrial Tracts,” located in the Southwest Quarter Section 31, Township 15 North, Range 50 West of the 6th P.M.

Starr Lehll, of the Nebraska Department of Economic Development, will review and consider approval of a “Memorandum of Understanding for Community Development Block Grant” to Bell Lumber and Pole Company.

There will be a discussion regarding an office expense sharing proposal with Deuel County, directed by Paul Schaub, County Attorney.

Tom Noel, highway superintendent, will give an update on road activities.

Finally, scheduled is a discussion about the county’s health insurance program to be addressed to the commissioners by Tara Stevenson, a representative of Blue Cross and Blue Shield.
