Following the lead of the city’s Planning Commission, Sidney City Council Tuesday night gave final approval to the Tax Increment Financing for Cabela’s downtown redevelopment plan. The $9 million project would renovate not only the Cabela’s former corporate headquarters at 812 13th Ave., but also revitalize the area along Illinois Street, between 13th and 14th avenues. The Sidney Red Raider Girls Basketball team will soon be sporting pink jerseys for a pink night during the 2012 - 2013 season. The jerseys aren’t really pink but rather white with pink trim and are approved by the Nebraska State Athletic Association (NSAA) for the girls to wear at a designated home game in honor of anyone who has battled or lost their life to cancer.
