On Dec. 21, 2018, the Nebraska Department of Education (NDE) announced the the state's public schools “are growing and improving in multiple measures.” The report comes as a result of the Accountability for a Quality Education System Today and Tomorrow (AQuESTT) result from 2018. Lodgepole Creek Apartments, which sit in a north and east corner of Sidney within sight of Highway 30 and the hospital, was acquired about a month ago by a real estate investor with ties to Nebraska. The arrival of the first baby of the year caused due excitement this week, as miss Zaira Smay made her appearance Jan. 18. Unfortunately, in reporting the happy event, the Sun-Telegraph initially spelled Zaira’s first name wrong. We also received conflicting reports on the 10-pound baby’s length. A Canadian company announced Tuesday it intends to purchase part of the Cabela's corporate buildings and expand its operations to Sidney. Residents and staff of Sidney Care and Rehabilitation Center were informed of the decision Wednesday by Ken Klassmeyer of Klassmeyer and Associates, the company that has been managing the center since last March.
