    A multi-disciplinary team of University of Nebraska-Lincoln researchers will conduct a two-year study to see how soil nitrogen levels affect protein levels in the grain that comes from Nebraska wheat fields. The team hopes to evaluate how grain quality, yield and field stands are affected by nitrogen fertilizer rates and application timing.     The change in trash rates for the Sidney area means all customers will be billed at the same rate per yard of trash, according to Sidney City Manager Ed Sadler. That also means residential customers will see a slight increase to their month bill, an increase of about $2 per month above the current cost. Effective in September, trash will increase.     Sidney City Manager Ed Sadler announced in the July 24 city council meeting that the finance bonds for the landfill have been sold. The funds will be loaned to the City at 3.35 percent with cash available by the end of August.     LINCOLN — Two Cheyenne County Volunteer Fire Departments are recipients of grant funds from the Nebraska Forest Service (NFS). The Forest Service (NFS) announced Sidney Volunteer Fire Department and Potter Volunteer Fire Department are among recipients of the 2018 Volunteer Fire Assistance (VFA) grant.
