    Nebraska's underlying geological formations store more groundwater than any other state, and in western Nebraska groundwater is used for irrigation, livestock, municipal water systems, rural homes, and other uses.     A Sidney woman escaped injury when the vehicle she was driving Dec. 15 collided with a deer on Highway 30. Ingrid Einspahr, 49, of Sidney, was driving a 2009 Toyota four-door sedan west on Highway 30 when the car collided with a deer between milemarkers 43 and 44 at about 5:40 p.m. She continued driving to Potter where she contacted law enforcement.     SCOTTSBLUFF (AP) — A western Nebraska zoo is getting ready to display two orphaned bear cubs from Wyoming. The Scottsbluff Star-Herald reports that the cubs arrived at the Riverside Discovery Center a few months ago, and staff members have been working to reinforce an existing closure for them.     LINCOLN (AP) — The Nebraska Supreme Court has rejected the post-conviction appeal of a California man serving life in prison for the 2012 fatal shooting of a Sidney man. Jason Custer, formerly of Chico, California, was convicted in 2014 of first-degree murder and other counts for killing 35-year-old Adam McCormick, of Sidney.
