The Sidney City Council Tuesday approved restructuring of fees for city services. The restructuring has less to do with prices and more to do with where they can be found within City documents, according to City Manager Ed Sadler. “The intent is to have all the fees in one place,” Sadler said. Sidney Parks Department Superintendant Tom Von Seggern has announced the city is offering a $300 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons who vandalized headstones at the Sidney Cemetery over the weekend. Von Seggern said seven grave sites were damaged by vandals who broke vases off of headstones in several areas of the cemetery. At another site, a marble vase was smashed on a stone. As of Jan. 1, 2019, the City of Sidney will no longer accept “Promise Notes.” The city of Sidney announced this week there will be no more extensions on disconnect notices after that date. For years, the city has allowed customers who were unable to pay utility bills when due extra time to pay. City utility bills are billed out 30 days after the services are used. A call is received saying your social security number has been suspended and wanting you to call back. A Sidney farmer has been chosen to represent the southern Panhandle on the Nebraska Wheat Board. In a press release this week, it was announced that Tyson Narjes was appointed to the board by Gov. Police are investigating reported vandalism at the Sidney cemetery. Sidney Police Chief Joe Aikens said Monday they have received reports of eight to nine markers turned over between Oct. 18 and Oct. 22. Cost of the vandalism is unknown at this time. The Sidney Police Department recently partnered with Union Pacific Railroad Police Officers to perform a Traffic Signal education drill at the railroad crossing on East Illinois Street.
