Cheyenne County Fair and Rodeo had its first 4-H events over the weekend at Cheyenne County Fairgrounds. Activities officially opened fair week this week with the 4-H Fashion Show on Thursday. For 25 years, volunteers have worked to provide holiday meals to those without family in close proximity to Sidney, or those unable to make the meals themselves. It started with Christmas, when Ella Mae Goranson first saw the need and organized a community Christmas dinner at the Lodgepole Valley Youth Camp. Harvest has begun in Cheyenne County, with farmers pulling into fields in the northeast corner of the county this week. Nebraska’s Department of Transportation has announced that weather permitting, work is scheduled to begin on US-30 on July 10 for repair of concrete panels.
