    Mar 10, 2021

On March 8, we observe International Women’s Day, a celebration of the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. Of course, women still tend to encounter more obstacles than men in the pursuit of financial security. Let’s consider a few of them. And women are often the ones who become full-time caregivers of aging parents or oth...

  • Bachin' With the Cowpokes

    Roy Gillham, The Wifes Cowboy|Mar 10, 2021

As the Cowboy’s Wife was on her way out the door for a few days away to teach a Professional Development, she mentioned that if I had any ideas for an article this week, I was welcome to write it. She rarely asks for help, though she keeps a number of plates spinning at any given moment, so I willingly stepped into the heel trap she had expertly thrown to volunteer for this effort. All that being said, I figured I would have some time in the office while the younger cowpokes took their naps. Som...

  • The Body of Christ

The Body of Christ is the Church. We may belong to different Denominations but we serve the same savior. 1 Corinthians 12:12-13 says we are neither Jew nor Greek, slave or free. We are noe, as the body has many but they all belong to one body, so the church (Body of Christ) should come together to work for one common good. It’s not about which church or denomination you belong to. It’s about who you KNOW and CHOOSE to serve. The Body of Christ is here to reach a lost and dying world, and bring them to the saving grace of Jesus Christ. We are...

  • When the Storm Rages

    Brandee Gillham, The Cowboys Wife|Feb 24, 2021

When a person chooses to live a life of agriculture it really is more than a livelihood, but truly a way of life. This means that when we drop into the arctic tundra temperatures, we must still get out of our warm houses, put on as many layers as we can, and venture outside. There are lives that depend on it – actually hundreds of them. As we watched the weather forecast and saw the impending storms headed our way, it really didn’t matter what else had recently gone on in our lives. It did...

  • Training for the Race

    Feb 17, 2021

I’ve never been much of an athlete. I did play baseball for most of my growin’ up years, and I bowled for a while in Jr. High and High School. I dabbled in Track & Field for 1 year, but was never really serious about it; likewise, with football and basketball, they were never really my “thing.” In the 8-9 years I played baseball, I distinctly remember how strict my dad was about game day. He didn’t talk much about what I ate that day, but his real pet-peeve was swimming on game day – THAT was absolutely forbidden because swimming takes so mu...
