Plan to attend this year's Oktoberfest in Sidney scheduled for Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 5-7 at the Cheyenne County Fairgrounds. Sidney City Manager Ed Sadler met with business owners Wednesday evening to answer questions about the city's trash rates. Part of the issue is how much are businesses being charged and why were the rates increased. "Yes, we are revising trash rates," Sadler said Wednesday, Sept. 19. Leyton High School football player Drew Haley continues to recuperate from an injury he sustained at the Leyton season opener Aug. 30. In the first quarter of that game, Haley went high to catch a pass, but when he came down his knee was severely injured, the injury cutting off blood flow to his lower leg. After a delay of about a month, Sidney High School Activities Director Mike Brockhaus announced the track resurfacing project will start on Tuesday August 7th. The resurfacing will assure the the quality and integrity of the track surface, and will help facilitate year-round usage for the school and members of the community. Use of the Cheyenne County Community Center is changing, but Center Director Michael Namuth says participation in programs is strong. Community Center staff are responsible for scheduling reservations of Legion Park facilities such as pavilions, gazebos and the Shelter House.
