The Creek Valley Schools Board of Education will host an open forum discussion regarding the potential closure of the Lodgepole schools. The board will host two meetings to discuss the possible fate of school operations. Mickie M. Calahan, age 65 of Sidney, NE passed away at her home, Sunday, December 25, 2016. Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, December 30th. Ruth Louise Green Landmesser, 94, was born January 21, 1922, in Pocahontas, Iowa, and died December 24, 2016, in Round Rock, Texas. Her parents were Wilbur Ward Green and Lola Vivian Nelson. She had one sister, Evelyn Nelore Green Horst, and two brothers, Charles Arne Green and Wilbur Nelson Green. Having a parent who had served in the US military (Navy) for over 30 years would have an influence on a young man. Upon graduation from high school, William Simmons (Bill) pretty much knew what he was going to be doing the next few years. He had listened to his Dad’s advice and stories most of his life. Sidney's boys basketball team ran Torrington, Wyo. off the court early to open play in the Cabela's Holiday Shootout, notching their fourth win of the season, 55-43.
