    A Union Pacific train collided with a semi truck 10 miles west of Sidney early Monday morning. The two crew members aboard the train and a driver and passenger in the truck were not injured, Cheyenne County Sheriff John Jenson said. "But they were shaken," he added. The collision occurred at about 1 a.m. near mile marker 45 on U.S. Highway 30. UP spokeswoman Calli Hite said the train collided with the semi at a grade crossing, where the truck was stuck.   • Cheyenne County Commissioners raise their salary

    Beginning in 2017, Cheyenne County Commissioners will receive a bump in pay. On Monday morning, the commissioners approved a resolution increasing their annual salary to $24,500. They currently receive $17,232. The $7,000 raise is the first adjustment to the elected officials' pay in 12 years, Cheyenne County Clerk Beth Fiegenschuh said.     Weather permitting, work on the I-80 bridges at Reference Post 97 will require the temporary closure of a section of County Road 189 in Deuel County beginning the week of Jan. 11, 2016, according to the Nebraska Department of Roads. Interstate Highway Construction, Inc., of Englewood, Colo., has the $37,673,866 contract for the two-year interstate reconstruction project.     Average retail gasoline prices in Nebraska have fallen 2.3 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $1.97 per gallon yesterday, according to GasBuddy’s daily survey of 1,150 gas outlets in Nebraska. This compares with the national average that has fallen 1.6 cents per gallon in the last week to $1.99 per gallon, according to gasoline price website gasbuddy.com.     The Peetz Lady Bulldogs dropped to 2-4 overall and 1-1 in 1A North Central standings after a 44-31 league loss to Prairie on Friday. For Peetz, it was mostly a case of being outgunned early as the Lady Mustangs outscored the Lady Bulldogs 30-14 in the first half.
