VETERAN'S HISTORY PROJECT At about 20 years of age, Herbert Clark (Herb) was on a student deferment that enabled him and others to continue college studies. Each evening, the newscasts reported young men of his age being killed or wounded. Herb felt that it was time to do his part in this war as well. Gerald (Jerry) Wittrock, 88 of rural Lodgepole, Nebraska passed away November 28, 2016 at his home northwest of Lodgepole. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Monday, December 5, 2016 in the Weyerts Immanuel Lutheran Church east of Gurley, Nebraska with Pastor Wayne Pouppirt officiating. Ben Arthur King, of Centennial, Colorado died on November 13, 2016. Born September 29, 1935, in Waterloo, Iowa, to Arlington Albert “Ben” King and Elizabeth Chapin King. He was raised in Sidney, Nebraska where he graduated from high school. He received his bachelor’s degree from Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colorado, and went on to accounting and managerial service with Woodward Governor in Ft.
