The Sidney City Council Tuesday approved the purchase of a new single-axle dump truck for the Parks Department. The Parks department included a one-ton dump truck in the 2018-2019 budget. The council had previously appropriated $46,119 to purchase a new truck. The Department found a state bid Ford F450 XLT with a gasoline engine in Lincoln. Christmas tree cutting permits will go on sale beginning Monday, November 20 at two of the Nebraska National Forests & Grasslands (NNFG) District Offices: the Pine Ridge and Bessey Ranger Districts in Chadron and Halsey, respectively. Nov. 5: A Los Angeles, Calif., man escaped injury when the van he was driving went off the road on Cheyenne County 58 west of County Road 93 at 8:40 a.m. Jose Hernandez, 38, was driving a 1998 Ford E350 van east on CR 58 when the van went off of the road and into the south ditch. Sidney senior Katelyn Sylvester signed a letter of intent to play volleyball for the Black Hills State University Yellow Jackets in Spearfish, South Dakota as a member of the class of 2022.
