    Plans are continuing forward for more development at the Glover Business park by Comfort Inn. The planning commission held a public hearing in September which accepted the initial re-platting of land owned by John and Jacqueline Wieser. This re-plat divides what was one lot into two separate lots. These plots of land are located in the area north of the Comfort Inn and west of link 17J.   • Breast Cancer Awareness Month

    October is breast cancer awareness month. The National Football League honors this by wearing pink accessories with their uniforms. The Sidney Raiders football players each donated $10 in order to wear pink socks and sweatbands in one of their games this month. All of the proceeds from the donations were given to the Night of Hope organization. Before practice on Thursday, the team presented the check to a representative of the organization.... Full story

    So many new project are going on around Sidney right now, they might be hard to keep track of. Anyone interested in updates on the big projects happening in the area can attend a briefing next month.     The 10th Annual Hay Day Festival will be a free night of family entertainment held by the Cool Kids Club/No Limits and Kids Plus on Saturday, Oct. 26 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the 4-H building at the Cheyenne County Fair Grounds.     For those looking for a Halloween night that’s not so scary, Hickory Square is the place to be.     The Ak-Sar-Ben Coronation and Scholarship Ball Committee announced that Ali Miller of Sidney was named as a 2013 Heartland Princess. The ball was held on Saturday, Oct. 19 in Omaha at the CenturyLink Center. Miller is currently a senior at Doane College, where she is majoring in Art, with minors in Spanish and Creative Writing.
