Driving in downtown Sidney has gotten a little easier with the re-opening of another stretch of 10th Avenue. As part of the 10th Avenue Rehabilitation Project, that roadway is now open from Illinois Street to Maple Street. The road from Newton Street to across the railroad tracks to Osage Street remain closed and are part of the ongoing work in the fourth and final phase of the project. Cabela's retail store presented a check for $3,200 to Kids Plus, Inc. Tuesday. The store partnered with local community members at the Campfire Golf Tournament to raise the funds. Vera A. Van Vleet, 77 of Sidney, passed away at Swedish Medical Center in Englewood, Colo., Monday, Sept. 22, 2014. Cremation has been held. No formal services are planned. Dear Editor, President Obama, with the approval of Congress, has blundered ahead to fund and arm so called moderate Sunnis in Syria to fight the radical Sunnis in Iraq and Syria (ISIS). The Sidney High volleyball team continued to struggle, losing to district rival Scottsbluff 25-21, 25-23, 15-25, 25-11 on Tuesday night at the Cabela's Athletic Facility.
