Eugene C. Buehrer, 88 of Cornville, Ariz., passed away at his home on Sunday, Sept. 27, 2015. Gene was born on Oct. 24, 1926 in Seward, Neb. He served in the U.S. Navy as Machinist Mate 1st Class in WWII and the Korean Conflict. After his Naval Service, Gene began his career as a civilian with the U.S. Army, and worked at Sioux Army Depot, Belmont Army Depot, Flagstaff and Fort Davis, Panama Canal Zone. Sidney Middle School's eighth-grade "B" team won the championship in the 2015 8th Grade Volleyball Jamboree in Mitchell on Monday. This is the second consecutive championship for the 8th graders.
