  • Raiders Drop Third Straight, 21-12

    Mike Motz, Sports Writer|Sep 29, 2021

Sidney's Red Raider Football team traveled to Yuma, Co., on Friday, and after going up early were unable to stop the Indians' running game and lost their third straight game, 21-to-12. After a 2-and-0 opening to the season that had the Sidney running game tallying big numbers and controlling the contests, the Red Raiders faced a higher level of competition, and have not been able to make the adjustments necessary to win against better teams. Friday's contest started well for the Red Raiders, as...

On Tuesday Sept. 21, Potter-Dix had a triangular with Wallace and Wauneta-Palisade, and lost both matches in straight sets. Against the Wauneta-Palisade Lady Broncos, the Lady Coyotes lost 15-to-25 and 20-to-25. Jayden Shoemaker led the offense in the loss with four kills. Next they matched up against Wallace, and were...

  • Bulldogs Blasted by Falcons, 63-16

    Sep 29, 2021

Peetz's Bulldog Football team continued to struggle against the stronger teams in their league, with a loss to the Briggsdale Falcons on the road Friday afternoon. It wasn't much of a contest as the Falcons scored early and often, and kept the Bulldogs off balanced and struggling to mount any kind of effective offense. The loss drops Peetz to 2-and-3 on the season, and with just one league win. Peetz travels again on Saturday to Walden for a match-up against the 2-and-3 North Park Wildcats....

    Mike Motz, Sports Writer|Sep 29, 2021

Leyton’s Lady Warrior Volleyball team started the season strong, picking up wins against the weaker opponents on their schedule. Then they hit a stretch where they struggled to even win a set against the likes of Garden County and Bridgeport. But the Lady Warriors are back on track, and two wins on Thursday at home put them back over the .500 mark for the season, and with some momentum as they come upon a stretch of matches against quality opponents. On Thursday, the Lady Warriors first faced o...

  • The Well-Armed Woman

    Sep 29, 2021

It’s a Wednesday night. You’ve had a long day at work and get in your car, relieved to finally head home. On the drive home you’re thinking about what you’ll cook for dinner, unwinding with some tunes on the radio, and entering into the trance of driving that we’re all too familiar with. You stop at a light and glance in the rear view mirror and notice a man in an old, beat up truck. You don’t think much of it and you turn left. You go through several more lights, make a few more turns and stop at another light. You notice that the same truck...

  • Potter-Dix Wins Shootout, 68-50

    Mike Motz, Sports Writer|Sep 29, 2021

Potter-Dix's Coyote Football team is ranked number 2 in the Six-Man standings and has had little trouble with their competition early in the season. But they Coyotes had a true test on Friday as they traveled to Arthur to match up against the number 5 ranked Arthur County Wolves in an early-afternoon game. Arthur County started fast and struck first with a 55 yard touchdown gallop by speedster Lance Vasa to give the Wolves an 8-to-0 lead. The Coyotes responded with a drive that featured miscues...

    Forrest Hershberger, Publisher, Sun-Telegraph|Sep 29, 2021

Inside nearly every child is the excitement of travel. For some it is fast cars, for others it is flight and still others it is being in command of the rails. Some children never fully grow up. They just reduce their focus their attention on models and scale size trains. That is where Andrew Holbrook comes in. Andrew and his wife Lynn moved to Sidney a little more than a year ago at the urging of friends, relocating from Colorado. They then opened a store in downtown Sidney offering all...
