Dear Editor, This letter is in regards to junior high and high school athletics and the treatment of the kids who are the third- and fourth-stringers. Obviously, not all kids are equal talent-wise when it comes to school sports. It doesn’t mean the kids who are the third- and fourth-string are not trying as hard as the ones who start. I’ve been thinking about the value of water and what this resource means to our communities. I suspect if we didn’t have this valuable resource our landscape would look quite a bit different than what we are now accustom to seeing. Since we have tapped into this resource we have experienced significant economic growth in our agricultural community, primarily with center pivot irrigation. The Sidney High girls’ varsity golf team produced another impressive showing at the Alliance tournament on Saturday morning. Sidney finished second with a team score of 376 – its lowest of the season. Scottsbluff won its fourth consecutive tournament, placing 14 strokes ahead of the Red Raiders.
