South Platte Natural Resources District has received two grants to bring trees to Sidney and the surrounding area. Through ReTree Nebraska and EAT (Environmentally Adapted Trees) grants, SPNRD has already received 40 trees, which it will soon begin dispersing, Galen Wittrock, SPNRD assistant manager, said. Peetz is celebrating its 100 year anniversary Sept. 29 and 30. Though its actual centennial fell in May, the celebration was held off until September to coincide with the homecoming game against Briggsdale and yearly For Peetz Sake! Day.
