The rollover bus crash that resulted in multiple injuries last Thursday northeast of Potter was caused by a driver's failure to stop at a stop sign. A Ford Ranger pickup truck, driven by Robert Hilpert, 55 of Potter, was traveling west on County Road 40 and struck a Potter School District bus, driven by John Herboldsheimer, 73, also of Potter, that was traveling north on County Road 83. After the 18 families living in the 9th Street Apartments were displaced by the storm last Monday, agencies both statewide and local came together to help them. Ron Leal, region 21 emergency manager, contacted the Red Cross to let them know about the storm and that there was an apartment with 18 units which were not safe for residents. With a third-place finish, the Sidney golf team had a two-match winning streak stopped at the Scottsbluff Invite on Saturday. Sidney earned its third-place finish with a 381 total at Scotts Bluff Country Club. The host Bearcats took top honors with a 351 total while the Bulldogs of Gering were the runner up at 375. After the Sidney Red Raiders football team defeated the Chase County Longhorns 32-13 in a non-league contest at Weymouth Field Friday night, senior Logan Lewis greeted family and friends near the south end zone. After dropping the first set, the Peetz Bulldogs (3-5) reeled off three consecutive wins to upend the Pawnee Coyotes (4-4) 3-1 on Friday at Grover, Colo. In what turned out to be a close match from the start, Pawnee edged Peetz 25-23 in the first set. Though the Bulldogs won the next three games all were nearly as close. The Leyton Warriors took on the Creek Valley Storm under the lights on Friday and stepped off the field with a 68-8 victory. The Warriors scored all their points in just two quarters—54 in the first and 14 in the third. The Peetz Bulldogs football team broke open tie game in the third quarter by scoring 22 points on its way to a 44-26 win in Grover, Colo. Friday night. The Dogs (3-0) second-half outburst preserved their perfect record thus far in the young season. The Coyotes fell to 0-3.
