    Forrest Hershberger, Sidney Sun-Telegraph|Sep 14, 2018

Rural life has its advantages, but those advantages seldom include top-level medical services. A mobile training lab is helping to address the issue. The University of Nebraska Medical Center has a 2016 custom truck that offers a training center capable of meeting medical staff at their location instead of depending on them traveling sometimes several hours for a workshop. The program, Simulation In Motion Nebraska (SIM-NE), includes 44-foot long dual-axle truck with two simulation labs; one...

Sidney's American Legion Post #17 has been busy this summer on a couple of highly visual projects in Legion Park. First of those has been work on the lighting system at the Legion Baseball Field. The park has been "dark" since a spring storm blew over one of the light poles in right field. Since then, Legion games were played earlier in the day because of the dark spot. Legion officials have been working to check the field and potential solutions since the pole was blown over. In checking the...

In 2016, the tenth annual Constitution Day Survey from ConstitutionFacts.com found knowledge of the Bill of Rights as one of the highest scoring areas of the survey. The survey also found that while knowledge of the Bill of Rights remains high, oth...

    Forrest Hershberger, Sidney Sun-Telegraph|Sep 14, 2018

When poverty hits and there's not enough paycheck for the rest of the month, some families have to choose between food on the table and food for the family pet. Two Sidney Girl Scouts, with the help of the Sidney community, completed a project for people to share the wealth when it comes to taking care of pets. It is about sharing resources, a neighborhood book exchange except it is pet supplies. Cierra Grund and Audrey Splichel presented their project Girl Scout Silver Award project before the...

Vicki Brauer shakes hands with Tristen Tanquary while North Elementary Principal Nancy Rowlett and her husband Eldon look on. Dairy Queen donated 10 percent of sales between 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. to North Elementary's goal of additional Chromebooks and portable risers....

  • Sidney Ready for Cozad Craftiness

    Mike Motz, Sidney Sun-Telegraph|Sep 14, 2018

"This team (Cozad) has a very good and very experienced coaching staff, and they're only a few years removed from a State Championship", said Sidney football head coach Chris Koozer. Although on paper Sidney has a significant edge in size and speed versus Cozad, which is reflected by Sidney's 3-and-0 record and Cozad's 1-and-2 mark in the season, the Red Raiders need to be on guard against a Haymaker team that is well coached and able to execute different schemes and plays every week on both...
