  • Para bellum

    Aug 12, 2020

America is at war. It has been for some time. But now the conflict has spilled into the streets. Shots have been fired. Blows have been exchanged. And we’re witnessing a fascinating blend of political subversion and terrorism with technology and media. The battle between collectivist and individualist philosophies has gone hot in America. America was founded on the grand idea that people could govern themselves, provided a loose framework of authority was established to codify the boundaries o...

  • Living On a Movie Set

Forrest Hershberger, View From The Handlebars|Aug 12, 2020

I remember some of the shows from my early years. They were odd, challenging and mysterious all at the same time. They were mysterious because even at that time, “the latest in polyester and spandex” didn’t add up to a new planet or an unexplored world. One tear walking through a sticker patch and you can almost hear the rest of your shirt tear. Some of the favorites, well, the fantasy I suppose, were of heroes, the testosterone-rich get-it-done and take-no-prisoners type of movies that proba...

This bill has been promoted as the Great Compromise. The bill combines three pieces of legislation, regardless of previous opposition to each...

  • Recalling a Century of Life

    Aug 12, 2020

Continued from Aug. 5 So much was the same. It was mid-afternoon when we arrived at the entrance to the huge airbase near Jacksonville, Florida. We stopped at the entrance gate the guard on duty told Cecil to go through the gate for briefing and I to remain in the car outside. We parked Elizabeth, the Buick, to the side of the entrance. A Navy officer took the wheel and said he would take me to a civilian residence in the town of Jacksonville where we could find sleeping accommodations as no vac...

    Aug 12, 2020

A nation starved for live entertainment of any sort would seem to overwhelmingly welcome back professional sports, but initial television ratings indicate a lack of interest from the viewing public for most sports. Be it the lack of actual fans in the seats, phony digitally enhanced piped-in “cheering” or the heavy handed left-wing political messaging incorporated into most sports, professional sports have re-opened with underwhelming interest. Surprisingly, to many people, as prior to the ope...

Build your reputation right and customers will find you. That is the experience of Nick Eddy and his new shop Outlaw Motorsports. Several years ago, Eddy had a business called “Nick’s Small Engine Repair.” After a time he got away from small engines, but never really left the mechanical way of viewing things.
