A pipe and rebar coating company is returning to Sidney after a two-year absence. Commercial Resins, with a facility also in Henderson, Colo., had a location in Sidney from 2005 to 2016. LINCOLN — Two Cheyenne County Volunteer Fire Departments are recipients of grant funds from the Nebraska Forest Service (NFS). The Forest Service (NFS) announced Sidney Volunteer Fire Department and Potter Volunteer Fire Department are among recipients of the 2018 Volunteer Fire Assistance (VFA) grant. This year, 109 rural fire districts will receive $330,000 in direct funding from the grant. Sidney VFD $4,320 in grant monies, and Potter VFD gets $4,500. Use of the Cheyenne County Community Center is changing, but Center Director Michael Namuth says participation in programs is strong. Community Center staff are responsible for scheduling reservations of Legion Park facilities such as pavilions, gazebos and the Shelter House. CHADRON – The seed of an idea planted more than 40 years ago came to fruition July 13 when Larry Young donated his plant collection of more than 1,000 specimens to the High Plains Herbarium at Chadron State College. Randy ZoeRay "Chopper" Haddix, 56 of Sidney and Broken Bow, Nebraska, passed away July 9, 2018, at the Medical Center of the Rockies, Loveland, Colorado.
