    Roaring sounds echoed through the fairgrounds Thursday when Monster Truck Racing League (MTRL) rolled into town to perform at the Cheyenne County Fair.   • Council considers fate of old city pool

    Sidney’s City Council will be considering a plan for demolition of the swimming pool on Toledo Street when it meets Tuesday, its last meeting for the month. The old pool, replaced with the Sidney Aquatic Center, which opened this spring, went out of service in part because of increased leaks and concerns over related expenses.     A Loaded grain truck was struck by a train when it stalled on the tracks near Gurley Wednesday night. According to the Cheyenne County Sheriffs office accident report, a Burlington Northern-Santa Fe train with thirty five cars and two engines was traveling north on a single track at approximately 46 miles an hour, when it struck the tractor trailer driven by Herbert Beck of Greenville North Carolina.     It was the "Amazing Race" all over Sidney earlier this week, when members of the Sidney High School cross country team could be seen crisscrossing town in sometimes unusual ways.
