Officials at Sidney Public Schools hope to complete work at the Middle School before classes begin on Aug. 18. “We just all have our fingers crossed and hoping that school can start on schedule and not sure yet,” said Sidney Schools Superintendent Jay Ehler at Monday’s school board meeting. Sidney's Stingrays swim team sent 71 members to Bridgeport last weekend to compete in the medal meet marking the end of the summer season. In all, 47 individual swimmers won a total of 145 medals. Jonathan Kruse, Tiffany Sweetser, Dawson Sharman, Caitlyn Mueller, Cameron Leeling and Brady Sweetser came away with the most hardware, claiming six medals each. Full list in Sports.... Full story
The Potter-Dix Children's Theater will be performing a musical, "The Great American Duck Parade," on the evening of July 18 at the Potter American Legion Hall. A silent auction and carnival games for young children will be available before the performance. This will be the seventh year of the Children's Theater, a fundraiser for the Potter-Dix Early Learning Facility. Hank Elias, 86 of Sidney, passed away at his home Friday evening, July 11, 2014. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, July 17th with a Wake Service at 6 p.m., Wednesday evening July 16th. Both services will be in the St. Patrick's Catholic Church with Father Jim Heithoff officiating. Burial with Military Honors will be in the Greenwood Cemetery.
