Nearly a dozen 4-H'ers took on a small project with big potential Wednesday morning as they learned how to build and grow their own fairy garden. A string of recent burglaries in Sidney are currently under investigation by the Sidney Police Department. According to Police Chief Joe Aikens, the first burglary happened on April 21, at Triple O's Building Supply, located at 633 10th Avenue. The window glass had been broken to access entry, and some Dewalt power tools were reported missing. A portion of the property has since been recovered. Power tools were also stolen from a garage at the 1300 block of summit drive, on April 26, 2016, along with a golf cart that was later recovered....
Sunrise came pretty early for the Sidney High School (SHS) choir, who was bound for a choir competition in Los Angeles, California, Thursday morning. Both the SHS concert choir and the Sidney Singers will be performing in the competition, spending five days in the City of Angels. Each year the Chad Nienhueser Memorial Scholarship is given to area high school students who are going to pursue a college education and have demonstrated leadership skills. Chad was a Sidney native majoring in civil engineering at the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology in Rapid City. Sidney's Legion junior baseball team played its home opener Wednesday night with indications of what it is capable of accomplishing. Sidney jumped on Morrill with three runs in the bottom of the first inning, adding five more in the second on the way to a 12-4 win. New Bethel College Head Coach Scott Weston has announced Shaela Jenkins has signed a National Letter of Intent to play volleyball next fall for the Threshers. Jenkins, a five-feet, 10-inches OH from Dalton, was a three sport standout at Leyton High School, participating in volleyball, basketball and track.
