    Cresencio S. "Chris" Rocha, 91 of Winchester, Va. and former Sidney resident, passed away Saturday, May 16, 2015 in Winchester. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, May 23, with Wake Services, Friday evening at 6 p.m. Both services will be in the St. Patrick's Catholic Church with Father Jim Heithoff officiating.   • WNCC to host Military Women's Conference

Conference – on June 6 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at Western Nebraska Community College’s Sidney campus, located at 371 College Drive.   • Local students receive college scholarships

    Sidney’s Raine M. Gartner and Chappell’s Jillian Kepler have both received college scholarships for the 2015-16 academic year. Gartner’s award is to Missouri State University and came as part of the Midwest Student Exchange Program. Students were selected based on their ACT scores, GPA, standing in graduating class and leadership shown in community and school activities. Kepler received the F and E Richards Memorial scholarship to Chadron State College for $1,000. She is a senior at CSC studying elementary education.... Full story
