The Sidney High School Raiders Speakers speech team had a strong showing over the weekend at the 2016 Western Conference Speech Meet, winning its first conference title in more than a decade. "We got 19 of our students in the finals," said Tanya Lewis, assistant speech coach and English teacher at Sidney High School. "It's the first time that Sidney has won this speech meet since 2005." Peyton Eckhardt won the Dalton/Gurley Pinewood Derby, which was held Sunday at Leyton Elementary School. Second place went to Ayden Hurt, while Riley Golden won third place. Region 21 Emergency Management Agency and the National Weather Service (NWS) in Cheyenne, Wyo., is teaming up to offer a Severe Weather Spotter Training this week. The training will be held 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the Sidney High School Auditorium. It is free for anyone to attend.
