    The Sidney City Council Tuesday approved expanding Economic Development Funding (LB840) for Highby Forest Products. In its April 10 meeting, the city council approved funding assistance Highby’s forest products division and its outdoor sports division. On May 8, Economic Development Director Melissa Norgard stressed the two divisions are separate companies.     Creek Valley's women's team took first and the Creek Valley men's team placed second in the Class D9 District Tournament Wednesday at Creek Valley High School in Chappell. Leyton and Potter-Dix also competed at the event, with Leyton's women's team placing sixth and their men's team placing tenth, while Potter-Dix's women's team placed third and their men's team placed twelfth.     Panhandle Public Health has announced openings are still available for Dental Days, which provides dental care for children without dental insurance.     Current and former military members will be honored at an event next Saturday, May 19. The Armed Forces Appreciation Ball will feature dinner, silent and live auctions and a dance. Ball proceeds will go through Sidney VFW Post 610 to help local veterans in need. The ball begins with a 5 p.m. social, with dinner at 6 p.m., followed by remaining activities.
