A gravel pit in Cheyenne County that has been the source of frustration for nearby homeowners will soon have a new owner, one promising to be a conscientious neighbor. Sidney’s planning commission approved a conditional use permit to Croell Redi Mix for land located a half mile south of the intersection of County Roads 20 and 117, east of Sidney. Raymond L. “Ray” Jallen, 60 of Sidney, passed away Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at the Sidney Regional Medical Center. Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m., Sat., April 26th in the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Sidney. Graveside inurnment with Military Honors will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery. Creek Valley's Mason Low set a new standard for himself in two events while Hannah Schievelbein erased an old mark of hers that had stood for two years at the Wallace Invite on Tuesday at Sutherland High School. With Lane Godfrey topping the leaderboard, The Creek Valley golf team finished fourth among 12 teams competing Tuesday in the Perkins County Invite at West Wind Golf Course. Godfrey had even nines of 39 for his 78 total, despite the strong winds which caused much of the field to struggle. He saved his best for last, as he went one-under par for the final two holes--including a birdie 2 on 17. Godfrey was the easy winner of the first-place medal. Bradey Holtz hit for the cycle and the Peetz baseball team couldn’t have found a better way to wrap up their regular season Tuesday as they swept both games from district rival Weldon Valley. Because of limited practice time and a truncated game schedule early in the season, the Bulldogs had struggled to get comfortable at the plate.
