KEARNEY, Neb. – A weekend traffic stop on Interstate 80 in Buffalo County led to the seizure of 35 pounds of marijuana and one arrest. Around 1 p.m. on Sunday, a state trooper stopped an eastbound 2013 Chevy Sonic for failure to maintain its lane, two miles east of the Minden exit on I-80. Average retail gasoline prices in Nebraska have fallen 5.2 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $2 per gallon on Monday, according to GasBuddy’s daily survey of 1,150 gas outlets in Nebraska. This compares with the national average that has fallen 5.4 cents per gallon in the last week to $2.12 per gallon, according to gasoline price website GasBuddy.com. Donald Farnsworth, 80 of Springfield, Mo., passed away Wed., Jan. 7, 2015. He was born March 12, 1934, in Carroll, Neb., to Harvey W. and Bernadette (Shannon) Farnsworth. Donald was raised in Sidney, and was attending St. Pat’s Academy, when he left to join the Navy during the Korean War. After serving in the Navy, he married Lois Lenz, Dec. 27, 1952. Nebraska Extension is offering the Master Gardener Training Program to provide volunteers with research-based horticulture education, which prepares them to share their knowledge with others in the community. Training sessions start in February and are open to anyone who is interested in plants and is willing to volunteer.
