    Joshua Woolery accepted a plea deal Tuesday morning in the Cheyenne County District Court, pleading no contest to two counts of first-degree sexual assault of a minor. The counts stem from alleged instances occurring in July and September last year. Woolery, 26, of Sidney, was arrested in October 2015 and charged with six felony charges relating to the alleged sexual assault of a minor between the ages of 12 and 16.   • Caravan route set for boys basketball to state sendoff

    A caravan Wednesday morning will be the final sendoff for the Sidney High boys basketball team on its way to the state tournament. The caravan will leave the high school approximately 10:45 a.m. Once it has left the high school, the caravan will make stops at West and South elementary schools, before heading out of town to Lincoln.   • Railroad splits catch fire on CR109

    The Sidney Rural Volunteer Fire Department responded to a call Tuesday morning at a property on County Road 109 just west of Sidney near Hwy. 30 after a stacked pile of railroad splits caught fire. The property owner, Bennie Bennett, said he did not see how the fire started. He said he had returned from breakfast when he noticed the splits on fire and tried to extinguish it with a garden hose.
