The Gloribells of the First United Methodist Church has only been preparing for their 17th annual Christmas concert since the beginning of October, as the bells had to be refurbished. A preliminary hearing concerning the alleged crimes of 23-year-old Theodore Medina of Sidney was held Tuesday afternoon in Cheyenne County district court. Medina is charged with first degree assault and manslaughter after an alleged altercation between he and Ernest Ward, 51, reportedly resulted in Ward’s death. The Sidney Public Library will hold a dedication of its new circulation desk, purchased in memory of Martha Hammond Walker, during its annual Christmas open house on Dec. 19. The new custom-made desk was purchased with funds from Walker’s estate.
