    Several local students were named to the Western Nebraska Community College President’s List and Dean’s List for the Fall 2014 semester. Students had to attain a 4.0 grade-point average to qualify for the President’s List, while a 3.4-3.9 GPA was necessary for the Dean’s List.   • State's gas prices on slight uptick since last week

    Average retail gasoline prices in Nebraska have risen 3.9 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $1.97 per gallon Monday, according to GasBuddy’s daily survey of 1,150 gas outlets in Nebraska. This compares with the national average that has increased 2.7 cents per gallon in the last week to $2.05 per gallon, according to gasoline price website GasBuddy.com.     Katherine "Kate" S. (Sanford) Becker, 65 of Brighton, Colo., passed away on Jan. 25, 2015 in Sidney. Kate was born to Marvin and Mintra Sanford on May 29, 1949 in North Platte. She graduated from North Platte Senior High in 1967 and married Timothy J. Kincaid in 1969. Kate graduated summa cum laude from the University of Maryland with a degree in accounting, as well as Creighton University School of Law.
