Bill Ladine of Sidney won the annual Sidney Sun-Telegraph football contest this year. Fourteen local musicians make up the Cheyenne County Community Band directed by Chris Gabis. There are no auditions, experience level requirements or age restrictions to be a part of this nonprofit musical group. Florence Elliott, 94 of Sidney, died Friday morning, Jan. 16, 2015 at Sidney Regional Medical Center, Extended Care. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m., Wed., Jan. 21, 2015 in the First United Methodist Church Chapel in Sidney with the Rev. Thomas Hyde officiating. Inurnment will be in the Chappell Cemetery at 2 p.m. on Wednesday. Cremation has taken place and there is no visitation at the funeral home. KEARNEY, Neb. – Several local students earned a place on the Dean’s List for the fall 2014 semester at the University of Nebraska at Kearney. To earn a place on the Dean’s List, university students must complete 12 hours or more (for which quality points are rewarded) with a grade point average of 3.5 or better on a 4.0 scale. Students earn a 4.0 for an “A,” a 3.0 for a “B,” and a 2.0 for a “C.” Courses taken on a credit/no credit basis cannot be included among the necessary 12 credit hours, because quality points – A, B, C – are not awarded....
