With a little less than a month to go, the Night of Hope Walk for Cancer Foundation committee is working on finishing up the last-minute details for this year’s event. The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission set the 2015 early teal season dates at its meeting last week in Sidney. The teal hunting season will be Sept. 5-20 in the Low Plains and Sept. 12-20 in the High Plains. Teal hunting season dates are set to coincide with the teal migration through Nebraska, and the opening day is typically the Saturday following Labor Day. Alex Jones of Sidney recently participated in the USSSA All-American Baseball Showcase tryouts in Des Moines, Iowa. KIMBALL – Alex Schaake of Omaha won his second straight Nebraska Junior Amateur Championship on Thursday as he fired a 74 at West Winds Golf Course in Kimball to overtake second-round leader Koy Potthoff of Scottsbluff. Cabela's officials presented a $150,000 "Outdoor Fund" grant to the Nebraska Game and Parks Foundation on Wednesday at its local corporate headquarters. The grant, to be awarded in $50,000 increments over the next three years, will support the foundation's Half-Price Youth Lifetime Permit Program. The final scheduled boating safety courses in the Panhandle will be held July 13, 14 and 18, according to Scott Eveland, boating safety officer for the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission.
