The Creek Valley High School football scrimmage is scheduled for Friday, Aug. 21. Grain dealers and producers should be aware that changes to the Grain Dealer Act become effective Aug. 30. In May, the Legislature passed LB 183 modifying certain portions of the act. With the effective date just weeks away, the Nebraska Public Service Commission wants those affected to be prepared. Kimball County Tourism is hosting the second annual “Shootout at the Kimball Korral,” Series 1 and 2 Cowboy Mounted Shooting Competition on Aug. 23-24. Runza Restaurants will conduct its 13th annual Great Books for Great Kids fundraiser on Tuesday, Aug. 25. The money will benefit local libraries, schools and literacy organizations and be used to purchase children’s books. The John Henry Hinrichs farm in Sidney recently received an award from the Knights of Ak-Sar-Ben Foundation and the Nebraska Farm Bureau that honors families with 100 years of farm ownership. The driver of a tractor-trailer died Saturday morning after a single-vehicle accident off I-80 east of Sidney. Bridge work is scheduled to begin on L-17B – known as the Potter Link – on Aug. 17, according to the Nebraska Department of Roads. Work includes bridge deck and approach repair, installation of a waterproof membrane and asphalt overlay, reconstruction of bridge rail and installation of new guardrail. The Nebraska Commission for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing now has an office in Scottsbluff. Field Representative Brittney Graham is the NCDHH representative for the Scottsbluff and Western Nebraska area. Previously, Gov.
